Chapter 6-“I’m not sure anyone’s really got an answer..”
PART I – Hot Springs Island, BC, Canada
Chapter 6 iNovel Link
“I’m not sure anyone’s really got an answer to that.”
The Chapter 6iNovel Link shows a selection of artwork by the painter Cristine exhibited at the Hot Springs Island show.

Blue Tree, Brown Tree, Green Tree (Pen, markers, and spray paint on paper)
Like prisms, we see things in different shades. Imagine if you had sunglasses of different hues and could wear them at the same time. The same object strikes you differently dependent on its hues, shade, and shadows.

Monochrome & Color (Watercolor on Paper)
The grids of this watercolor painting alternate black and white and color. A checkerboard of monochrome and color. The two women exchange looks across the spectrum. Which one does each of them inhabit. What do their looks mean?

Nude (Pencil and charcoal on paper)
Drawing is lines. A single continuum of lead on paper can tell so much and reveal the essence of an object, an existence. Once the pencil connects, it takes on a life that ends only when the hand is raised. No erasing – there it is.

Portraits in Color (Watercolor on paper)
Male, female. Adult, child. Culture to culture. We are all of these things. We are none of them. We are different colors, we go through stages and tunnels and hide and gesture and look directly and sadly and sideways.

Collages offer texture and shape and juxtaposition. The silver bits of paper glimmer and make the red redder and the green fall into place. See what you can see in here. I can find lots.
